Biography
Catherine Dukelow is an associate attorney in Burns & Hansen’s civil litigation division. She assists clients across a range of matters, including real estate disputes, construction-related issues, evictions, and business-related conflicts. Catherine approaches her work with a focus on clear communication, ensuring that clients understand their options and feel supported throughout what is often a stressful and uncertain time.
Catherine’s practice is shaped by her strong foundation in legal research, writing, and advocacy. Prior to joining Burns & Hansen, she served as a law clerk for Judge Jon Schmidt at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where she developed her ability to analyze complex legal issues and gained insight into how judges evaluate arguments and apply the law. Following her clerkship, Catherine worked with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services in the Metro Housing Division. There, she represented clients in housing matters, argued motions, negotiated settlements, and managed a significant caseload. This experience strengthened her practical courtroom skills and reinforced the importance of thoughtful, client-centered advocacy.
Catherine combines her background with a strategic, client-focused approach to legal problem-solving. She tailors her communication style to each audience, whether drafting persuasive arguments for the court or explaining legal concepts in a way that is accessible and meaningful to her clients. She understands that not every situation has a clear legal solution and values honesty in advising clients, helping them navigate both the legal realities of their case and the broader challenges they may be facing.
Catherine earned her J.D., with highest honors, from Drake University Law School in 2024. During law school, Catherine competed on the national moot court team, which placed second in a national competition, and advanced to the semi-finals of the ABA Client Counseling Competition. She also served as Projects Editor for the Drake Law Review, where her published note addressed issues related to alternative reproductive technology. In addition, she was President of the Public Interest Law Association and worked in the law library.
Originally from Bloomington, Minnesota, Catherine began her academic career studying theater at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her background in performance and storytelling continues to influence her legal work, particularly in oral advocacy and her ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
Outside of her practice, Catherine enjoys seeing movies, reading, exploring local theater, and trying new restaurants in the Twin Cities.
