Biography
Jean Paul Agustin is an associate attorney in Burns and Hansen's family law department. His practice focuses on helping clients through the difficult process of addressing disputed family law disputes.
Jean Paul's experience includes successfully litigating marriage dissolution actions, custody matters, paternity cases, third party custody actions, domestic abuse matters, and stepparent adoption cases. He has both settled and tried cases involving custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, non-marital claims, and real estate. Jean Paul also handles post-decree matters regarding modification of custody, parenting time, child support, and spousal maintenance. Jean Paul also has experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting pre-nuptial agreements. Jean Paul can guide clients through alternative dispute and evaluation processes as required in family law cases.
Jean Paul combines candid advice and empathy when providing representation to his family law clients. Whether the case requires settlement, aggressive representation, or further investigation, Jean Paul advocates for his client's interests and goals in a cost-effective manner.
Prior to joining Burns and Hansen, Jean Paul served as a judicial law clerk for Referee Mary Madden at the Hennepin County Family Justice Center, where he learned the skills to analyze complex social and financial issues in family law cases. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2014. He has a Bachelor's degree in International Studies and a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of West Florida.
Jean Paul gives back to the community through the Tubman Remote Law Clinic. He is also a mock trial coach through Minnesota State Bar Association Mock Trial.
In his spare time, Jean Paul enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as barbecuing and cheering for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
