Biography
Kiley Adams is an associate attorney in Burns & Hansen’s appellate, civil litigation, and family law departments.
Prior to joining the firm, Kiley completed back-to-back clerkships with the Minnesota Court of Appeals, working for Judge Tracy M. Smith, Judge Renee L. Worke, Judge Elise L. Larson, and Judge Jon Schmidt. While clerking, she honed her legal writing and research skills, became familiar with varying areas of law, and gained valuable insight into the decision-making process.
Kiley understands that navigating the legal process can be confusing and stressful for clients. Kiley strives to demystify the legal process for her clients by managing their cases in an organized, efficient, and proactive manner. Kiley believes that clients deserve frank advice and reaching a desired outcome may require creative and practical solutions.
Kiley’s experience has taught her success in litigation depends on strong written submissions, whether that is a motion, memorandum, brief, or written response. In these submissions, a good attorney makes strong, reasonable, and persuasive legal arguments. An exceptional attorney recognizes that a Court cannot apply the law correctly without all the relevant facts. That is why Kiley focuses on presenting both her client’s story and strong legal arguments in a thorough and deliberate manner. If your case requires a grasp on a complicated legal situation and a nuanced, clear, and persuasive written product, Kiley is the attorney for you.
Kiley earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a certificate in Child Welfare. While in law school, Kiley completed the honors program, worked as a certified attorney in the Child Protection clinic and served as the President of the Rosalie E. Wahl Legal Association of Women Students. Kiley’s article on issues related to child protection rights was published in the Mitchell Hamline Journal of Public Policy where she later served as Managing Editor.
Kiley is a born-and-raised Minnesota residing in Hopkins with her husband. In addition to her busy practice, Kiley coaches high school speech. Outside of work, Kiley enjoys attending musical theater or enjoying a day on the lake, when the Minnesota weather permits.
