How the Firm Came Together
Burns & Hansen traces its roots to two attorneys with different backgrounds and complementary strengths.
Patrick Burns established a respected practice focused on helping clients navigate important business, real estate, and family law matters. In 2009, he joined forces with Erik Hansen, whose litigation and appellate experience expanded the firm's capabilities and brought a new dimension to the practice.
The combination proved to be a natural fit. Clients benefited from a broader range of legal services while continuing to receive the personal attention and direct attorney involvement that had always been central to the firm's approach.

Burns & Hansen has one of the largest and most experienced appellate practices in Minnesota. Our attorneys handle appeals in state and federal courts, helping clients identify legal errors, preserve important rights, and pursue meaningful results after trial. We also assist with post-trial motions and related proceedings, often becoming involved before an appeal is filed.
