Biography
Martin Melang is a senior associate attorney at Burns & Hansen. His diverse background and experience provide him an advantage in understanding all aspects of civil litigation in both state and federal Courts. He works regularly on real estate, mortgage and contract cases, as well as advocates on behalf of clients in business disputes. Marty has extensive experience advising companies in various transactional matters, including commercial acquisitions, drafting and reviewing leases, stock and membership transfers, employment agreements, mortgages, liens, and covenants not to compete or solicit business.
Marty also dedicates a portion of his practice to counseling both creditors and debtors in foreclosures, loss mitigation matters and debt, credit and collections issues, inducing in bankruptcy and related adversary proceedings.
Additionally, Marty has represented numerous non-profit organizations in actions seeking to preserve and safeguard historical buildings districts and other landmarks.
Marty graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2003, after completing his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Psychology at Saint Olaf College. During law school, Marty worked at the Office of the State of Nebraska Attorney General. He is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts in Minnesota.
Marty was born in northern Minnesota, but grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. He spends his time outside of work with his wife and three children, and enjoys politics and music. Marty is an avid follower of the University of Nebraska's sports programs.
